I'm also missing my bangs a bit... i wonder if i could bring a lil somethin somethin back in the new year...

PS Nikki, if you see this... tell me where the heck i can find that sweater!!!

Is it just me, or is it almost more fun to shop post holiday season? I supposed I like it because it's seemingly less frowned upon to purchase yourself most of the presents! Here are a few things I'm obsessed with post-holiday.

see you next year christmas

Peace out santa... I had the loveliest holiday to date, but I have to admit... I am really glad the holiday is over. Here we come 2011! Cheers and safe travels if you're still out and about!

art direction love

Whomever did the art direction for Jack Spade's holiday gift guides is someone I need to know and become great friends with. I'm cracking up...AND i want to buy everything!

Coffee Talk with Dirty Diane

***FROM THE ARCHIVES***

Hark Maddie!

Do you hear the Herald Angels singing? I sure do. As we open our presents and drink our holiday cheer, let us not think of our credit card bills or the crises of the world. Let's ask ourselves what Jesus would do. I'm pretty sure Jesus would tear the shit out of that paper until he found the little turquoise box from Daddy. Just like me. It's not selfish to enjoy receiving. It's the way Jesus wants it.

Cheers and jewelry!

beauty fix: perfect everyday shadows

Drooling over this palate of minimalist neutrals for an everyday look. I'm a stickler for eyeshadows - and having the best everyday colors at my disposal. Just makes for a better morning if you ask me. Add these to my list.

my pile... 2 years later

I've been lusting after these Fiorentini+Baker boots for a couple years now... and i've never taken the plunge and had a major splurge on something so silly before... i know this is hard to believe for someone so shoe obsessed, but I have never brought myself to buy a pair of shoes over $200 bucks before. Well, maybe one pair of leather boots... but thats it. No Louboutins, No Miu Miu saddle shoes, no Jimmy Choos. I've had success with brands like Dolce Vita, Zara, and even Forever 21. I'm a freak of nature who doesnt get sore feet in heels, or at least not very often. I always figured first my spendy shoe purchase would be on a pair of ridiculously high spiked heels... but I feel like a great riding boot with a bit of funk is much more up my alley these days. May have to treat myself after the new year.

must see: Somewhere

Can't wait for this to come out. And how in love with Elle Fanning are you?? Cause I am totally in deep smit.

still for sure into fair isle... especially with an upcoming ski trip in January (yup, another check off the 30x30 list)! Sometimes you just have to love ASOS... mostly because no one here knows to shop there! I consider that a win. This blanket slash cardi looks amazing for fireside cocktails don't you think??

**BLUSH**

How sweet is that? Love you Lee, and I don't even know you!!

currently loving: tinsel tree with air fresheners

I've always struggled with my love of these crazy atomic tinsel trees versus my obsession with a real pine christmas tree. The scent that fills your home with a real tree is what makes the holiday for me. between that and cinnamon rolls - this is the scent memory of christmas morning for me. Then I saw this beauty over at the glamouri - and I'm in love. the pine car fresheners as ornaments on the vintage tinsel... genius! And no fire hazard. win win.

:: holiday cocktails ::

Lately, I've been thinking about what fun i could bring to the tens of holiday parties that have started to pile up... and then i thought instead of bringing a bottle of wine... wouldn't it be a bit more interesting to show up with a little sparkling sangria punch instead?

Sparkling Sangria
Makes about 4 quarts

2 tart apples, Pink Lady or Braeburn, thinly sliced
2 Anjou pears, thinly sliced
6 tangerines, thinly sliced
2 cups unfiltered apple juice
1 ½ orange liqueur, like Cointreau
2 750-ml bottles sparkling wine, Prosecco or Cava, chilled

In a large pitcher or glass jar, combine sliced fruit, apple juice and orange liqueur. Chill for 30 minutes. Top with chilled sparkling wine and stir well to combine.

my pile...

its been a few years since i've become obsessed with a large comme des garcon pouch... and i'm still super into it. Maybe a personal xmas gift. classic leather pouch... must have.

Apparently I havent been learning much in the past few months, so I am DUE for one of these bad boys. On my oddly interesting plane ride back to the winter tundra, i had some time to reflect on all the things I have learned this past fall.
1. Always be the FIRST or LAST person on a plane. (first if you are in the luxury that IS first class, and last if you're not. it makes you cooler and you're not standing in that goddamn line behind people who "swear" their bag is carryon size - EVEN THOUGH it doesn't fit in the overhead bin...GRRR).

2. If given the opportunity OR if in need of a little personal pick me up... upgrade yourself to first class. Yes, it's an unnecessary thing to give yourself on the regs (unless you're lucky and get the free upgrade), but SHIT it is so worth it. luxe seats, free booze and food and whatever else you can dream up... PLUS you feel better physically and emotionally. (phys: so much more leg room and butt room. emo: you're rich and pretty and you belong in first class).

3. Expensive sheets are expensive for a reason. You spend so much time in your bed, you had better enjoy every last second of it. (this includes down comforters and duvet covers... heaven does not come cheap)

4. It's still unacceptable to wear sunglasses indoors. The ONLY reason i will allow it is if you have either been a) punched in the face, or b) have a scratched cornea and you need to hide the patch.

5. eating healthy is VERY hard... and takes a FULL commitment. Make the trips to the grocery... look up the recipes. It will be worth it.

6. Indulge yourself. Whatever that means to you... a decadent meal, a massage, an expensive pair of shoes. Do it. It's important for your happiness and sanity. Plus, it's a good boost of self confidence.

7. Facebook can be the devil. We all think we want to know about other people's lives... but some day's it can cause more strife than happiness. Limit usage.

8. Being addicted to Blistex is an acceptable addiction.

9. DAMAGES is an epic show and I am fully embarrassed it has taken me this long to get behind it. If you like SVU, and i think you do... this is like at least 68 times better. Except that instead of Elliot Stabler you have Tate Donovan who is the SHIZ.

10. Apple products are for sure still the best. Sorry. (Case in point: iPad.)

Peace out snow...

Headed to sunny (likely overcast) California for the weekend... just in time to dip out before the snowstorm hits.

drool worthy...

oh good god... please help me in admiring this ALL white macaroon shoppe, Theurel & Thomas, in San Pedro, Mexico. I am sorry but this has got to be the most beautiful shop ever. and the sheer fact that ALL they sell are colorful french macaroons is EPIC. The flawless bright interior is the absolute best backdrop to showcase these sweet confections. Also, the way they chose to display them is exquisite, and the packaging, impeccable. The whole concept was created and designed by the Mexican Agency Anagrama (who also did all their branding and packaging). The boutique-like store is a contemporary twist of and old French patisserie. Now I have another reason to pay Mexico a visit. SO SO BEAUTIFUL.

drool worthy...

pantone iphone/ipad cases. adorable and a lovely gift, no?

what is it about people who don't think traffic laws apply to them?? I mean really... I don't want to sit in the line to enter the freeway either but did you ever see a sign that instructs you to go ahead with the person in front of you? no. this isn't Noah's arc. there's no entering two by two... you wait your turn you prick. I have no idea why this gets me so peeved, but it just does. what in gods name do you need that extra 7-10 seconds for? I guarantee you will still hit that red light you're racing to beat this morning... GUARANTEE.
